Winter is coming!

Game of Thrones fans? No? Sorry, moving on. With the first day of winter arriving this weekend, and some storms in our rear view mirror already, we wanted to discuss the transition of going from running your air conditioning to your furnace. The big thing you want to maintain in your system is your air filter.

Your filter remaining clean is key to an efficient heating system. If that is not maintained or changed semi-annually; it will cause your furnace to run less efficiently or could lead to further damage. With your furnace most likely not being used for the past few months, your system has probably been shut off and that has allowed for things like dust or other contaminants to settle, possibly in your filter.

This time of year is a great time to check that filter out or even to get a tune up for your entire system. By performing these types of tune ups on your system, you help avoid running into problems down the road when you really need your heater. Waiting until something goes wrong to call one of our HVAC technicians can result in being out of heat for a couple of days depending on our schedule at the moment.
